We are building a large steel sailboat in our front yard using an oragami method to construct the hull. plans for the hull and a 1/12th scale model were obtained from jack carson.. The need for watertight bulkheads is however doubtful in small steel yachts as the likelyhood of ever punching a hole in 3/16th plate is remote. as for making a steel boat unsinkable, it takes 1 inch of foam to float 1/8th inch plate and 1 1/2 inch to float 3/16th.. The process starts with your favorite boat design. one that you would like to build. this doesn't have to be one of our set of plans, it can be any plans. if you don't have a set of plans, we can draw them for you, or customize an existing design as you require..
